Journals

Journals are assigned on Monday and due on the Friday of that week.

All red journals are from the third quarter and can no longer be completed for late credit.

2nd & 4th Periods (English II-S):

Journal #1 (Due 2/2): What are your expectations for English II? What are your fears or concerns? What about the class seems to spark your interest?
Journal #2 (Due 2/9): Think about Oedipus and his fate. Do you feel sorry for him, or did he bring his end upon himself? Did you ever make a decision you wish you could change? Why?
Journal #3 (Due 2/16): Is Valentine's Day a legitimate holiday, or is it just an opportunity for corporations to make money? What's your favorite romance story/movie, or who is your favorite couple in literature?
Journal #4 (Due 3/2): Compare high school to the Anthem society. In what ways are they similar/different? Overall, does a public high school setting promote individualism or being part of a group? What type of student/kid do you think Equality would have been if he had been raised in our society and gone to EWHS today?
Journal #5 (Due 3/9): Free write.
Journal #6 (Due 3/16): If you were told you had to abandon your home and could take only three things with you, what would you take and why? Characters in our current book tried to take their possessions with them and lost them forever. Knowing that information, would you try to hide anything in the hopes you could return one day to retrieve it?

Journal #7 (Due 4/13):  Describe your spring break. Did you have a restful/fun time, or would you have rather done something else?

Journal #8 (Due 4/20): Do you think you could have survived everything Arn experienced under the Khmer Rouge? What would have been the hardest part for you?

Journal #9 (Due 5/4): What are your concerns about the exams that are coming? Is there a subject you’re worried about more than others? What are some suggestions for what can help you?
