2018 Graduation Information

GRADUATION:

Graduation will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. on the football field (Warrior Stadium).  In case of inclement weather, graduation will be Monday, June 11, 2018 at 6:00 P.M.  If the weather is still unsuitable on Monday evening, graduation will be moved inside the new gym.   To participate in the graduation ceremony, students must have completed all educational requirements of the Wayne County Board of Education and the North Carolina State Board of Education.  Since graduation is ceremonial in nature, students who have not completed their financial obligations to Eastern Wayne High School will not be allowed to participate.  The last student day of attendance is when all debts must be paid in order to be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Graduates should only wear cords/collars that recognize academic honors with minimum requirements.  Students may not wear cords for participation in other organizations.

SENIOR DEBTS:

  1. If you owe any type of debt, it must be cleared before you can participate in the graduation rehearsal. Do not let a debt keep you from marching.  Take care of this on time. Senior debts are to be cleared no later than Tuesday, June 5, 2018 (it is very important that students keep all receipts for paid debts in case a problem arises at a later time).

  1. Media Center debts should be paid in the media center.

  1. Cafeteria debts should be paid in the cafeteria.

4.   ROTC debts should be paid to ROTC instructors.

5.  Band debts should be paid to Mr. Sherard.

6.  All other debts paid to your Home room teachers.

NO CHECK POLICY:

NO checks will be accepted for any reason after May 1, 2018.  Cash, money orders or cashier checks will only be accepted after this date.

NO BALLOON POLICY:

Due to one of our fellow Warriors having Latex allergies, we cannot allow balloons to be brought to the graduation ceremony.  No balloons can be brought into the stadium area or parking lots.

SEATING/TICKETS:

TEN tickets for commencement will be given to each graduate.  Only those with tickets will be admitted into Warrior Stadium for the graduation ceremony.  All ten may be used for outside graduation.  In case of rain, only four designated tickets may be used for gym admission.  Anyone who enters must have a ticket regardless of age.

The media center will be available to view graduation via closed circuit television.  This is for any elderly or handicap person wishing to view graduation in a cooler environment.  Anyone who enters the media center must have a ticket regardless of age.  Persons in Wheelchairs and one (1) companion, may sit on the track directly in front of the home side stands for the ceremony as well.

Graduates will turn tassels in unison after all seniors have received their diploma covers.  After Mrs. Johnson declares the class of 2018 graduates, she will then tell you to turn your tassel to the left side of your cap.  This concludes the ceremony and everyone will exit the field in the recessional.

  1. You are asked to hold your joyous outbursts until after students turn their tassels. You must complete the recessional, so instruct your family to meet you outside the gates of the football field and behind the main gym area.

The diploma you receive on stage will only be a diploma cover; Student Services will have the official document and is instructed to hold it for an undetermined amount of time if your behavior is unacceptable.
